The techniques I used in creating the texturing and coloring of Abunda Gojo were a departure from previous methods. As I worked on the piece and watched it emerge, I kept thinking about the abundance and colors of the harvest season. The first person to whom I showed the finished work saw instead a monk, arms outstretched in joy, and rope around the waist swinging as he walked. So the name of this work comes from Esperanto translations of the words "abundant" and "joy." Later, several viewers have commented on seeing children's faces in the spiral structure, an equally fitting interpretation of the title.
